As an artist, the kind of work that excites me most is imaginative, innovative, curious, hopeful, transformative, and distinctly modern.  I believe strongly in the power of words, and most especially in the power of text to transcend static blueprint– it's "flat" origins– to become a thing that moves, breathes, evolves, and responds in three-dimensional space.  I am interested in the marginal, the queer, the restless, and the "other."  I am interested in theatre that makes a space for itself so it can work through a great mystery all its own.  I am drawn to work that refuses to stand still.

Perhaps this is because I am a person who has difficulty standing still.

I was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, but have made Portland, Oregon my home since 2006, and very much consider myself a proud resident of the Pacific Northwest.  I graduated from Lewis & Clark College in 2010 with a BA in Theatre Arts and was awarded Departmental Honors for my interdisciplinary work in directing, design, technical theatre, and stage management.  Throughout my years in Portland I have worked with a variety of professional companies doing everything from directing, devising, playwriting, stage and production managing, sound designing, and producing.  For the 2016-2017 academic year I will be living in the United Kingdom, where I am set to complete an MA in Writing for Performance and Dramaturgy at Goldsmiths College, University of London.

In 2012 I wrote and produced my first play, Waxwing, for Portland’s Fertile Ground Festival with String House– a new works laboratory and producing title that I co-created with director Anna Crandall, dedicated to independently produced collaborations of new, local, experimental works of theatre that strive to push the boundaries of the art form.

On the off chance I'm not at the theater, in the theater, or thinking about being so, you can find me indulging in the very NW activities of growing vegetables, rambling through the closest available wilderness with my dog, rock climbing, or spending time with friends at the nearest coffee establishment.
